5 Mistakes to Avoid After Getting Your Car Detailed

20 October 2025

A professional detail can make your car look brand new, but the way you maintain it afterward determines how long that finish lasts. Here are the five most common mistakes we see.

1. Washing Too Soon

If your car has been ceramic coated, wait at least 7 days before the first wash. The coating needs time to fully cure and bond to the paint. Washing too early can compromise the hydrophobic layer.

2. Using Automatic Car Washes

Those spinning brushes are loaded with grit from every car before yours. They will introduce swirl marks and micro-scratches. Always hand wash or use a touchless wash.

3. Parking Under Trees

Bird droppings and tree sap are acidic and can etch through coatings if left for days. If you must park outdoors, remove contaminants as soon as possible with a quick detailer spray.
